Oscillating between classical references and contemporary purity, between rich materials and delicate poetry, the magic of the Gilles & Boissier universe is nourished by its natural ambivalence. Dorothée Boissier and Patrick Gilles, a duo of architects prized the world over, nevertheless assert their Parisian roots, as evidenced by Empreinte, a Rugs directly inspired by a park in the capital, created in collaboration with Édition 1.6.9 in 2017.
Essential in architecture, in its ability to structure as well as energize space, light is rarely as subtle as it is in its natural state. During a visit to a Paris apartment adjoining the Parc Monceau, the architectural duo were struck by the beauty of the shifting pattern of trees, freely emerging on the ground as the sun's rays shimmered. With Édition 1.6.9, Gilles & Boissier use the grace of hand-tufting to immortalize the random fantasy of these graphic shadows.
